Disneyland Hotel March 2009

Here is the headboard at the Disneyland hotel! Soo prettty!

Bathroom at the Disneyland Hotel--Susie loved the lamps. I tried to get a good pic of the really unique Disney topiary wallpaper but it did not turn out well.

This is the border along the ceiling. Tinkerbell was only in one spot and the rest of the border had pixie dust along it. It was so cute!

You can't really tell from the picture but nestled between all the flowers are sketches of Disneyland rides. Susie liked the comfy beds except she had a hard time getting up on them because they were kind of high.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Disneyland Hotel! I loved being able to stay there because we had never been there before and I was so happy to actually be able to stay there. The second day was a early b-day present from David! The theming was so cute in our room. There were Mickeys on the floor lamps, Mickeys etched on the table and desk, Miskeys etcehd on the counter in the bathroom, even little Mickey shampo & conditioner. The theming was nice and tastefully done (not bright and crazy like a dorm room Karyn & I once had in college, but we were in college after all . . . we loved our room on 1B!) with relaxing colors and sketched portraits of Dsineyland on the walls. (By the way, if you never saw our dorm room, well let's just say it was the ultimate Disney experience . . . one you would not forget . . . ask me or Karyn sometime about it!)
There was a Princess Bedtime Story channel on the TV in the room and the girls loved that! The people at the check in desk were all very nice. In the lobby on the first day, Susie saw Gooofy and they gave high fives, played peek-a boo and she gave him a hug . Every time we went back to the hotel and Goofy was not there she would say "Goofy go nite nite." Cute!
I also loved being able to hop on the monorail when I got tired and go back to the room w/out having to walk very far. It was so convenient! Susie liked the monorail -- she still talks about the choo choo train!
I will blog about our time in the park on my next post with our pics I took!

Dinner with G-ma

We went down to Riverside just to see G-ma Sharon who was visiting in So. Cal recently. We went to Rubys and the kids got to be with their cousins too. Here are some pics!

Disneyland here we come!

I should have blogged about my brother's wedding already, but I have not had time to do all the picture labelling that goes with it . . .so anyway, one of these days I will have all the pics up on the blog. But for now . . .

Tomorrow we leave for Disneyland!!!! I have not been since before Susie was born so this will be great. And we are staying at the Disneyland Hotel! Yes we are taking the kids out of school, but we really need a break NOW and we can't go for a while after Miriam is born. So we decided let's just go. I have only been in the lobby of the D-land Hotel so this will be a treat. And we are meeting Karyn & crew on Friday. I am probably as excited as the girls . . .except Susie who has never been to D-land and may not want to leave--she loves Mickey and Minnie so much! I am anxious to see what she does when she sees the life size Mickey and Minnie! Granted I can't ride on Space Mt or any of the rides like that; but it's OK since Annie is big enough for those now so David still has a riding buddy on those.

I am so excited to stay at the D-land Hotel. I have always wanted to and I got a bargain from Travelocity! Fun, fun, fun! Now off to finish packing!

The Miracle of Life

Wednesday I went and saw our friends Rob & Donna and their new arrival , Dallas. He was only a few hours old and was so precious! It is their first and they were so happy. She had a long labor (about 18 hours) but not as long as my first (nearly 30 hours). She had asked me to come and see the baby and I was so happy to be one of the first visitors to see Dallas. My friend Misty was a labor coach and picture taker . Donna had a hard time at first, but then her labor proogressed more smoothly;both mom and baby (and dad too) are happy and fine. Sorry I do not have any pics for you of Donna and baby right now.

Donna is such a sweet young woman. I am glad I have had the opportubity to be a mentor as well as a friend to her. She had so many questions since this was her first pregnancy and I was glad to be able to answer them. I pray God's extra blessing on her while Rob is deployed for 7 mos.

Holding Dallas and watching him sleep made me reflect on God's wonderful miracle of birth. Such tiny helpless little ones that are so precious in God's sight! With Donna's labor and delivery, I have been remebering the births of all of our girls and Miriam who is to be born soon. I pray now that God will give me a good labor and that Miriam will be healthy. (No we have not decided on a middle name yet-- in case you were wondering).

Sharon's Inauguration Day Speech

The following was written by Sharon at school for an aassignment. I have left the spelling arrors and grammar the way she wrote them so that all can appreciate her writing. Enjoy!

Annie and Groundhog Day

Yesterday--in case you were under a rock somewhere and didn't know it--was good ol' Groundhog day. Annie came home from school with a groundhog craft that moved up and down. I asked her if the groundhog saw his shadow and she said "Yes. That means we have 7 more years of winter!" I told her no it was 6 weeks not years, thank goodness. She just said--"Oops, I forgot!" Then she went on to ask if she could go see the real groundhog next year because she has never seen a groundhog in real life and really wants to pet one. I told her they were a little bit like squirrels, but then she told me she had never seen a real squirrel and wants to pet one of them too. In fact, now she says she would really like a pet squirrel!

Ah my little animal lover! BTW she also says she can talk dog language to Cleo (our golden retriever) and Cleo talks back. Six is such a cute age!

(This post is green because Annie's fave color is green!)

Upwords on Monday

Monday night we had my parents & brother over to play Upwords. Here is the thing--my dad is not so good at Upwords & David is really good at Upwords. David thought he would have a good chance of winning, but my mom is also pretty good at it. Anyway, my dad got to go first. So he played CAT for his opening word. CAT--I mean really!

Oh yeah, in case you haven't played Upwords, the basic premise is you spell words kinda like Scrabble but all the letters have the same point value and you can stack letters on top of each other to form new words.

So anyway, David is off and running playing 17 & 18 point words and all that as the game progresses. Well the last few times around you could see people trying to get rid of their tiles so they would not be left holding any--and here is my dad playing one letter at a time stacking and stacking away slowly, David was playing all these big point words really thinking he was going to win . . . but my dad ended up winning by 2 points!! He was as shocked as David I think since he never wins games. It was funny! And to think he only started with CAT!

Inauguration Day responses from the girls

I was watching the inauguration--Some responses from the kids:

Susie--She held up her hand just like Biden and Obama when they were taking the oath of office. Then she clapped with everyone. She also liked the symphony music by Yo Yo Ma & friends; she said" I sleepy" but then when the song was over she sat up and said "I up now."
Annie--They watched inauguration in her classroom. They even watched the prayer. Annie said she was praying along with Rick Warren in her head. sh wanted to watch it again at home on the computer--that was touching . . .she would repeat some of his words and was so sincere.
Sharon--She likes the Obama girls (she liked their coats) and is impressed with Michelle Obama. She likes her clothes and thinks she is pretty. She got to watch the oath in her classroom also and they talked about it a little . She did not have any comments when I told her I was blogging the inauguation and what they thought. (She watched the Kid's Inaugural Concert and liked that more, I think! )

So there are the are the responses of the youngest in our family! I think it was a good experience for them to see what an inauguration is like regardless of your political affliation. It was a good thiing for them to see how American democracy is supposed to work. I know the significance was lost on Susie but she was interested in whatever mommy was watching.

Two year old Knock knock jokes

Susie, who is two. really wants to be like her big sisters. So recently she has discovered the knock knock joke and the fact that people will listen and sometimes laugh. Soooo, she tries it. Her knock knock jokes go like this

S: "Mommy, mommy?"

R: "Yes Susie.

S: "Knock knock."

R:"Who's there?"

S:"Mommy!"

(She usually gets an obligatory grin or giggle just because she is so cute!)

David tried to teach her how knock knock jokes are supposed to work. He tried to teach her the banana one, but she didn't want to keep it going and didn't get it. Oh well! One of these days she will get it. After all Sharon's toddler jokes were only the word "watermelon!"

Welcome to our new blog

This blog is a replacement blog for the one on wordpress. I didn't like wordpress so much so I made the switch to blogspot. If you ever read Rebecca's wordpress blog, I will not be posting there but you can still read the old posts. This blog is our family blog written mostly by Rebecca although there will most certainly be contributions by the rest of the family. I will try to update it at least once a week . . . hopefully. Enjoy the blog!
